Why “Diamonds”?

Stephanie

Driving in the car one day with the music turned up, my husband turned to me and asked, “Why do you like this song?”

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a pit? Have you ever felt like the pain was more than you could bear? Have you ever felt like the enemy was taking you down?

If you can answer “yes” to any of those questions, then “Diamonds” by JOHNNYSWIM will resonate with you.

You’ve taken down
So many others
Oh but you’ll know my name when you see
And in these ashes I’m stronger still
You’ll learn to fear my pain, yeah you will.
You’ll learn to fear my pain, yeah you will, yeah you will, yeah you will.

We’re the fire, from the sun
We’re the light when the day is done
We are the brave, the chosen ones
We’re the diamonds, diamonds
Rising up out the dust.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, the victory has been won. I know that full well. But there are days when I’d like to kick the enemy in the teeth. I’d like for him to feel my pain. And you know what? I’ll let you know a little secret. One day, he will. Revelation 20:10 lets us know that he will be tormented day and night forever and ever. And that light that’s been shining in you for so long will rise up like a diamond out the dust, standing before Jesus as His chosen ones, brave and strong.

When I finished my response, my husband nodded and said, “I get it.” Friend, do you?

Nothing will hold us back any longer. Like the father and daughter in the music video below, we’ll dance with our heavenly Father. Abundant joy will be ours forever and ever.
